Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State on Sunday stopped his convoy to assist victims of an accident at the Sagamu end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Punch Metro reports.
The governor, who in company with his entourage got to the scene shortly after the accident occurred, alighted from his vehicle to join the rescue team and isupervised the rescue efforts.
About 11 passengers in a commercial bus heading to Lagos from Ibadan, Oyo State, reportedly sustained injuries in the crash.
The accident, which occurred at about 12:30pm around the Danco Filling Station, involved a black Toyota Corolla car with number plate FST 199 FE and a 12-seater commercial Mazda bus with number plate KTU 474 XP.
The bus reportedly somersaulted after it collided with the car.
The Ogun State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Clement Oladele, confirmed the accident, adding that 18 people made up of six adult males, 11 adult females and one female child were involved.
Oladele said the accident might have been caused by possible speed limit violation, adding that the injured were taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu for treatment.
