Etinosa’s Naked Video: An Evidence of Beauty without Brains

I’ve read a lot of articles emphasizing on the need for men to have absolute respect for women. I’ve also seen a lot of women clamour for gender equality. I’ve seen people complain that women are not respected in our society. But what I’ve not seen so often is women condemning their fellow women for dehumanizing themselves or for playing cheap! What I’ve also not seen is feminist activists converging to protest against serious immoral behaviours by female celebrities that are capable of sending a wrong massage to the male Folks.

Just recently, Etinosa, a well respected popular Nigerian comedian and actress went completely naked on a live video call with MC Galaxy on Instagram. The extremely nude viral video has been seen by millions of people around the world. I’ve been waiting to see or hear wide range of condemnations from our celebrated feminist activists in Nigeria and across the world, but most of them seem not to see anything wrong with the video.

Etinosa’s viral unclad video is a clear illustration of the phrase ‘beauty without brains’. Men don’t respect ‘beauty’ – they respect ‘brains’. How would Etinosa still expect the men out there to accord her quality respect after humiliating herself so badly? Why would someone like me even attempt to take a picture with Etinosa after embarrassing herself before the world? It’s so pathetic she may still expect the men out there to respect and adore her. In her mind, her actions could mean media stunt just to get more followers and attention. But in reality, she’s simply a shame of a woman!

Furthermore, her actions have only exposed some secrets about her recently collapsed marriage to her ex-husband. Only God knows how much her ex-husband suffered in her hands before their separation. It’s only a ‘goatful’ man that will choose to live with this kind of shameless woman.

The pertinent truth I will like to emphasis here is that respect is not acquired – it can only be earned. If the women want the male folks to respect them adequately, they must first of all respect themselves. If you don’t respect yourself – your body, your senses – most people won’t respect you. In as much as I may want to respect everyone equally regardless of their gender, most people out there may want to treat other people based on how they treat and respect themselves.

I therefore urge our African women to try and respect our African culture. Our culture is our culture. We don’t believe in nudity. We are good people with good moral standards. Stop exposing your body. You’re beautiful and we the men already knows that. We don’t need to see your cleavage before acknowledging how beautiful you are. Going nude can only make us think you’re are mad, ignorant or even stupid – though some may smile at you just to get a fair share of the meat-pie!
