Senator Shehu Sani representing Kaduna central senatorial district has lost his re-election bid and has said his campaign organisation remain proud of those who voted for him on Saturday 23rd February, 2019.
The outspoken senator has had a protracted battle with Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state, which eventually led to his exit from the ruling APC to Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, after an automatic ticket promised by APC failed and lost his polling unit to APC on Saturday.
In a tweet conceding defeat, Sani wrote, “we remain proud of those who defy inducement and voted for us.Each of our vote is honestly earned and remains a mark of our honour. We got our votes not because of anyone but ourselves. We thank all men and women of principles, dignity and courage who worked from the campaigns through the elections”.
We appreciate every vote we honestly earned and not under anyone’s shadow or inducements in Kaduna Central; We remain unwavering in the defense of the ideals we stand for.We proudly stood tall with our heights and not with the glory of a borrowed high heels.

See some reactions to his tweet below:
Good, you have accepted defeat.
At least we go rest small from your noise in #Kaduna
You rode on the back of #Buhari in your 2015 victory to the Senate.
See, you can't stand alone…
You have been contesting elections since God knows when.
